Roxanne, The Girl Called Death - Chapitre 4
Here's Chapitre Four, Regina. Hope you like it. Enjoy, minna!
#____Haseo, the Prince (Nigel) of Lightenra____#
[Death]
#Just a little note from Fukona-sama before we go into this chapitre: Big commotion, as promised. It's Death's birthday, also.... The first day in which she met him....#
The party had begun. Kings, Queens, Princes and Princesses from all dimensions flooded the castle's gateways. Death didn't really care----parties just weren't her thing.
While everybody was enjoying themselves at the party, Death wandered off on her own to the balcony. The roses turned ash grey the moment Death into that area. She closed her eyes. She felt the cool dead breeze rushing towards her face, surrounding her. She envisioned herself in a cemetery, beside a lake. Instantly, she was teleported to that place, the deserted part of Gothica, also, the place she frequented.
Death opened her eyes. She gazed at her surroundings before she closed her eyes once more. She could picture the pain and sufferings of the people who had died in that area. She felt their sorrow, their feelings. She saw their deaths flashing before her very eyes. She was witnessing the past. The past of the place that she stood on. The past that was forgotten in the Forgotten Lands of Gothica.
Finally, the flasbacks stopped. Death found herself landing back at the cemetery, staring at the lake. She felt the sudden urge to sing----except that almost every song that she sang had a sad melody....
" Please, please forgive me
But I won't be home again
You won't cry for my absence, I know----
You forgot me long ago
Isn't something missing?
Isn't someone missing me...."
[Prince Nigel]
Back at the castle, Prince Nigel from Lightenra was enjoying a drink at the balcony. Princess Death's voice had miraculously reached him----it seemed that only he could hear her voice. The song fluttered in the air, distracting him, calling him, and he had to find where it was coming from. He couldn't ignore it----this song, this beautiful melody, danced around his ears and blocked out everything else. Nigel lost his grip from his drink. It fell from his hand----shattering and spilling the drink. Nigel hadn't noticed a single thing. It was as if he was in a trance. He stood over at the rail and teleported to the Forgotten Lands of Gothica, following the thread of music, and right there and then, nothing else mattered.
Then he saw her.
There was somebody standing in front of the lake alone, and once Nigel had seen her, he felt as if he couln't look away. She was standing with her back to him, and he couldn't see her face, but he knew beyond the shadow of doubt that that melody belonged to her. Nigel felt like he had to get closer to her. To the song.
" Even though I'm the sacrifice,
You won't try for me, not now
Though I died to know you love me,
I'm all alone...."
As he approached, and could see her better, the song grew around him until he could practically feel it against his skin. It felt like how he imagined dew would feel, setting in the early morning.
Her hair was long and tangled, and the colour of cold winter moonlight. It fell down to her waist, the ends of her hair twisting and curling like the path of a river. Her dress was the darkest blue, darker than midnight and deep within the fabric lights flickered and then disappeared, like distant dying stars. The dress fell into tatters at the bottom.
And that song, it dragged Nigel forward like the tide drags the sea....
" Isn't something missing?
Isn't someone missing me...."
It sounded like water, like streams of silver, like crystals, tears and moonlight, embedded with sorrow. Nigel drifted towards her, mesmerized by the beautiful melody. With every note she sang, everything also became fainter and fainter, and with every step towards her, the song grew around him, so strong that he felt sure that if he was to close his eyes, he would even be able to see it.
When Nigel was almost close enough to reach out and touch her, the melody stopped.
" Who are you, and what do you want? "
She slowly turned her head, her beautiful eyes of ice, bitter dreams, pain and sufferings....
[Nigel & Death]
Prince Nigel bowed, " You must be the Princess Death. "
Death's eyes were fixed on Nigel, " And you must be? "
" Prince Nigel of Lightenra. It's a pleasure to meet you. "
[Death]
Death's heart practically stopped beating. The very instant she laid eyes on Nigel, a profound change came over her. Death was deeply affected, and experienced a sudden warmth spreading through her being. She could not resist this feeling and, if she were honest, she did not wish to. She felt pleasantly strange, and wondered vaguely what was happening to her. She stared blankly at the prince's face. And then it came to her: she understood, she knew, that she was made to love those dark blue eyes. Death who was normally so cold, was flushed with warmth.
[Nigel]
Nigel looked up. Then his eyes met Death's: they looked at each other, and immediately understood. They felt as if they had always known one another, as if they had lived only in the expectation of finding each other again someday. Nigel no longer saw Death in her dark midnight dress, he saw further----he saw her heart. And he realised that she would possess his own. There was only one word to describe what he was experiencing. Impalpable, stronger and more maddening than any other emotion, from now on, the word would lie in his heart, and in Death's eyes: love.
[Nigel & Death]
Nigel walked over to Death's side. " You have a wonderful voice, princess. However, there is something that puzzles me."
"Erm.... Thanks for the compliment. What is it that puzzles you, Prince Nigel? Do feel free to speak your mind. "
" I was wondering, how could such a ravishing beauty like you be named Death? "
On hearing that, Death's face went crimson. She turned away immediately. " Beautiful? You sure know how to charm a girl. "
Sensing Death's discomfort, Nigel did not pursue further, and he dropped the subject. " Oh. I just have a way around girls. Anyway, it's a beautiful night tonight, isn't it? "
At that, the dark midnight sky was lit with stars. The moon, too, had reappeared. " Yes, Prince Nigel. Indeed it is. "
Seeing that Death had calmed down, Nigel tried to bring up the subject again. " It's really strange to call you Death, princess. Perhaps it would be alright if I addressed you as---- " Nigel didn't manage to finish his sentence.
" Roxanne. Call me Roxanne then. "
" Call me Haseo then. I understand that this name----Nigel---- is kind of difficult for the people of your country to pronunciate. "
Growl, Haseo's stomach sounded all of a sudden.
" Oops! I guess I forgot that I was really hungry. Ha! Let's go and grab a bite. Shall we, Roxanne? "
Roxanne tried hard to hold back her giggles. Haseo was really funny. He was also the first person who had ever made Roxanne laugh ever since her birth.
After having a magnificent feast, everyone gathered at the ballroom. Lady Alysandra announced, " Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, let the dance begin! "
Melodic music streamed across the entire ballroom.
[Haseo & Roxanne]
Haseo placed his hand before Roxanne. " May I have the honour, Princess Roxanne? "
Roxanne was taken aback. No one had ever dared to approach her, and yet, Haseo was asking her to dance? " I-I But I don't really know how to dance, Prince Haseo, " Roxanne stuttered.
" I have to admit, Roxanne, I'm not really much of a dancer myself. But, you won't know till you try. May I? " Haseo replied.
Roxanne turned scarlet in her face. She held out her icy cold hand to touch Haseo's. It felt nice to and warm to the touch. They walked hand-in-hand towards the center of the ballroom. They started out with slow, small steps. And soon, they were dancing as well as the others did. Roxanne felt a warm glow through her, while Haseo felt a spark of electricity in him.
[Princes & Princess]
Many princesses and princes eyed the both of them with jealousy. " How I wish I was with that guy! What is that girl to him anyway? He would suit me even better! " All the princesses thought.
" He is not fit to be with her! I should be the one dancing with her! ' All the princes thought simultaneously.
[Haseo & Roxanne]
" Haseo, I think that there are people staring at us.... "
" It's alright, Roxanne. As long as I'm with here, nobody will ever dare to hurt you. "
[Roxanne]
Roxanne could not help but smile silently. Even though it wasn't a really a large grin like Haseo's, it was enough for Haseo to know that she was happy. " That's much better. You look lovelier when you smile, princess. "
Roxanne blushed. Silently, she muttered, " Thank you, Prince Haseo. "
Roxanne only wished that this moment would last forever. She was having the time of her life. She just did not want it to end quickly. She wanted to stay by Haseo's side forever. She wanted to be his. However, deep inside, she knew that they could never be. She was from a dark dimension. And he belonged to the light dimension. It was forbidden for them to be togther. Which is why she should treasure this moment as much as time would allow her to.
[Haseo & Roxanne]
"Nigel, it's time to go home," the King and Queen of Lightenra reminded.
"Oh no, not now, " Haseo thought.
"I really need to go now, princess."
"Yes. I understand, Prince Haseo," said Roxanne, crestfallen.
However strangely, Haseo did not release his grip from Roxanne. Roxanne did not loosen her hold either. They stood in the middle of the ballroom, hand-in-hand, reluctant to leave each other. Roxanne and Haseo looked into each other's eyes. They knew that their fates weren't supposed to cross. However, their hearts were already binded together. They were nothing without one another.
Without any signal, Haseo pulled Roxanne towards him. Lying against his chest, Roxanne could hear his heart beating. It's beating rate was exactly like her own. She could smell his sweet scent, feel his embracing warmth. Right there and then, Haseo and Roxanne felt the world fading into nothingness. They were together. And, that was the only thing that mattered. Roxanne could not resist the urge to say, " Please don't ever leave me, Haseo."
"I won't ever leave you princess. Just think of me, and I'll be there. I won't forget you either."
With that, he planted a kiss on Roxanne's forehead. Then, he released his hold from Roxanne.
Before he left, he felt a tug at his sleeve. " When will I see you again?"
Haseo turned around to face Roxanne. He stretched out his hand. A silver heart necklace materialised onto it. At the same time, another materialised onto the Roxanne's outstretched palm. Both necklaces looke identical. They were unique in design, however. There could never ever be another extra pair. The necklace on Roxanne's palm flew to Haseo, and placed itself around his neck. Haseo walked over to Roxanne, and placed the necklace he made around her neck. " Happy Birthday, and good bye, my princess, Roxanne," Haseo muttered with a hint of despair in his voice.
Then, he turned and walked away silently.
[Roxanne]
She watched him as he went. Further and further away. Soon, his shadow could not even be seen. She held up her heart necklace and opened it. Inside there was Haseo's picture with his name on it. She closed it, and placed it near her heart. She whispered, " I swear that I'll never love another. I swear that I'll never replace Haseo with another," she paused and added on," Farewell, my prince, Haseo. I'll miss you...."
[Haseo]
Once he reached his room, he shut it tight. He held up his heart necklace and opened it. Inside it had Roxanne's picture with her name on it. He closed it, placed it near his chest. He whispered," I'll miss you, my princess, Roxanne.... I swear to the Heaven Lord that I'll never love another, and that I'll love Princess Roxanne till the end. I swear I'll find you, Roxanne.... I swear we'll meet again, even if it is forbidden between the both of us."
[Roxanne & Haseo]
They knew they weren't fated to be.... However, they knew that they would change their destinies.... No matter how far they were from each other, they would think of each other for an eternity....
#____End of Chapitre Four____#
I hope that you had enjoyed this Chapitre! It took me hours just to type this!
Anyway, for those who really want to know why I had written this whole story thing, I'll tell you.
Actually, this whole thing that I did was for my crush. I don't really know if I still feel for him, however, this is my promise that I made to him. We had actually done a comic called 'Teen Titans Freedom'. Both of us had contributed to doing it. Both of us also had our names in it. When both of us changed places in class, we weren't sitting next to each other any more. So, I couldn't continue to do it with him. I did ask him if he wanted it back. He replied that he wanted me to complete it for him. I'm not sure if he really meant it or not. However, I still did it. This is only the written part of it. I hope to hope up with a comic soon.
Note: If you're gonna ask me what happened between us, I'll tell you.
I didn't really get to tell him that I liked him. So, he doesn't know how much I feel for him till even now. It's really saddening. However, I think I still think of him sometimes nowadays.
Actually, when I was in Primary Six, I had sensed that he had already liked my best friend, Glenice. I had also sensed that Glenice had liked him too. Although she had promised me that she'll never like Nigel, she ended up going against her promise. At that time, I was really depressed. Somehow, I did not need anyone tell me that they had feelings for each other. I could just tell from the way they had treated one another.
Then, there came the day when I could not resist to ask Glenice if she had like Nigel (my crush's name if I forgot to mention). And of course, she was shocked to know how I knew. Then, she told me the truth. It all happened like this:
They happened to know each other's MSN (I didn't know Nigel's MSN)One day(It was after the PSLE by the way), they saw each other online. And they chatted with each other for a while. Then, all of a sudden, Nigel confessed to Glenice that he liked her. Glenice did likewise.
After hearing that, of cousre, I felt so emo. Afterall, it was my best friend we were talking about. I had loved Nigel more than anyone else in my life. And, I couldn't bring myself to hate Glenice. She was my best friend afterall. How could I hate her?
Well, as written in this story, Nigel is Nigel. As expected, I am Roxanne. This is just a story for me to show him how much I still love him.
Well, that's all. I hope that I really didn't bore you with my crush life. It sux. Just had to get it outta my system. Though it'll stay there forever.
Have a kona day, minna,
Fukona-sama
